According to a 2005 survey by Energy & Environmental Analysis Inc. for Oak Ridge National Laboratory, nearly 50 percent of the commercial/industrial boilers in the United States - responsible for 8 quadrillion Btu/hr in energy consumption - are 40-plus years old, while as many as 80 percent are 30-plus years old. |
